How to Download Pinterest Videos and Images in Full Quality
Pinterest has no download option for video pins and often gives small image previews. Here is how to save both at full size, including pin.it links.

Pinterest is full of things worth keeping: recipe videos, workout clips, reference images for a project. The app's Download image option exists for some picture pins, but there's nothing at all for video pins, and what you get is sometimes a reduced preview. Downloading from the pin's link solves both.
Step by step
- Open the pin and tap the share icon (or the ⋯ menu), then Copy link.
- Open the Pinterest Video Downloader and paste the link.
- Tap Download. Video pins are saved as MP4; image pins as the original image file.
Links copied from the Pinterest app are usually short, like pin.it/4AbCdEf. You can paste those directly. Full links such as pinterest.com/pin/1234567890/ work too, including country versions like in.pinterest.com or pinterest.co.uk.
Video pins
Pinterest video is usually HD and often in a tall portrait shape. You receive the MP4 with sound, exactly as it plays in the app.
Image pins: preview vs. original
When you look at a pin, Pinterest shows a resized copy a few hundred pixels wide so the page loads quickly. The uploaded original is kept separately and is often three or four times larger. That larger file is what the downloader gives you, which matters if you're printing, designing, or zooming in on details.
If the person who created the pin uploaded a small image in the first place, that small image is the original, and nothing can enlarge it without losing quality.
What doesn't work
- Whole boards. One pin at a time.
- Secret boards and private profiles. These require being logged in.
- Idea pins with several pages may not download completely.
- Pins that are just links to another website. The picture can be saved, but the article or product it points to lives elsewhere.
Finding your file
Android: Downloads folder. iPhone: Files app → Downloads, then Share → Save Image or Save Video to move it into Photos. Computer: your browser's Downloads folder. More help: where do downloaded files go?
Using Pinterest content
Most images on Pinterest were pinned from somewhere else, so the person who pinned it is often not the person who made it. Saving a pin for inspiration or personal reference is normal use. If you want to publish or sell something based on it, trace the pin back to its source (tap the pin's link) and ask the actual creator.
