How to Download Snapchat Spotlight Videos
Save public Snapchat Spotlight videos as MP4 with sound, from your phone or a computer. Plus what can never be downloaded from Snapchat, and why.

Spotlight is Snapchat's public video feed, the part of the app that works like TikTok or Reels. Unlike the rest of Snapchat, Spotlight videos are meant to be seen by anyone, and each one has a web page. That is what makes them downloadable.
Step by step
- Open the Spotlight video in Snapchat.
- Tap the share arrow on the right and choose Copy Link.
- Open the Snapchat Spotlight Downloader in your browser and paste the link.
- Tap Download. You get an MP4 with the original sound.
A Spotlight link looks like snapchat.com/spotlight/W7_EDlX…. On a computer you can browse Spotlight at snapchat.com/spotlight, open a video and copy the address from your browser.
What quality do you get?
Spotlight videos are recorded on phones and stored as vertical video, commonly 540 × 960 or 720 × 1280. You receive the same file Snapchat plays on the web, so there's no re-compression and no added watermark.
What can't be downloaded, ever
This matters more on Snapchat than anywhere else, because the app is built around things disappearing:
- Private snaps and chats. They are sent to specific people and deleted after viewing. They have no link and no web page. No website or app can fetch them, and anything that claims to is a scam.
- Friends' stories and private stories. Same reason.
- Your Memories. You can export those yourself: in Snapchat, open Memories, select the snaps, and tap Export.
Also be aware that Snapchat notifies people when you screenshot or screen-record their snaps and chats.
Saving your own Spotlight videos
If it's your own video, you don't need a downloader. Open your profile, find the snap under Spotlight & Snap Map, tap ⋮ and choose Save. Use the downloader when you no longer have the app handy or you're working on a computer.
Where the file ends up
Android: the Downloads folder, which your gallery shows as an album. iPhone: the Files app, from where Share → Save Video moves it to Photos. See where downloaded videos go.
Reposting
Spotlight creators can earn from their views, so re-uploading their videos elsewhere takes something from them directly. Share the link if you want friends to see it; download for yourself, or with permission.
